I told my guy I wasn't really that hungry so maybe something small and light for dinner tonight. He looked at me, furrowed his brow, then smiled.

"How about something that fits on an 8" lunch plate?"

I thought that sounded like a good idea so I didn't discuss any other details of his vision.

The dinner he made me was incredible! Mushroom Ravioli with Brown Butter Sage Sauce w Toasted Pecans and Lemon. He gave me only five 1.5" ravs and I was dying for more! But what really got my taste buds popping was his Arugula & Shaved Fennel Salad with a Lemon Parmesan Dressing. OMG! this has an incredible taste!! He used this tiny little Hors D'Oeuvre plate that held just a few bites of this heavenly flavor. I was so wrong about fennel like this on a salad. I was expecting something different but the flavors were very delicate and fused so well with the sweet lemony arugula and dressing. If you've never had an Arugula & Fennel Salad like this, grab the recipe below.

My dad loved spicy food, my mom didn't so it was always a treat for him when we would eat out where he could order something spicy. But I remember we would always laugh when my dad would eat something spicy because his eyes would get all watery and his face turn red and he would say "It clears the sinuses"!!

So when my guy said he wanted to make me something with chicken and started listing some of his ideas, I stopped him immediately on Thai Basil Chicken and asked him if it was going to be hot.

He smiled because he knows me, knows what I was thinking and says "It could be. How hot do you want it?"

"Hot enough to clear my sinuses!" Since you gave me this head cold! (I didn't say this last part but I thought it and I knew he already felt bad enough.)

He made this dish with ground chicken breast instead of diced pieces of breast meat (which turns out I actually prefer) because he thought it might be easier on my tender throat. He said he made it with only a single Thai red chile to make it have a little kick but not too much. All I know is this dinner Cleared My Sinuses and was an incredible taste with fresh picked basil from his winter garden. I give it my A++ rating!
